For Christmas delivery in the contiguous US, USPS Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail must ship by Thursday, December 17, 2026, and Priority Mail by Friday, December 18. Poshmark, Depop, Vinted and Whatnot labels are USPS, so if you usually ship two business days after a sale, your last safe sale day is Tuesday, December 15. A marketplace's own ship window is often longer than that, and it doesn't move the carrier's date.
Two dates matter in December, and they aren't the same. One is the marketplace's rule for how long you have to ship. The other is the carrier's last day to ship for the package to arrive by Christmas. Vinted gives you 5 business days to ship, for example, so an order on December 15 is on time on Vinted if it ships on December 22. It just won't be under a tree on the 25th, and a buyer who paid for a gift remembers that.
Below are the 2026 carrier dates, then each marketplace's label carrier and ship window, then the arithmetic that turns those into your last safe sale day. Every date was read on the carrier's or marketplace's own page on October 13, 2026. Carriers can still change them, and UPS's schedule was marked as pending an update, so check again in late November.

Christmas Day 2026 is a Friday. USPS publishes dates for delivery before December 25. FedEx and UPS publish dates for delivery by December 24, a day earlier.

Each marketplace's label carrier and ship window
The label decides which carrier date applies to you. Poshmark, Depop, Vinted and Whatnot hand you a USPS label. On eBay, Mercari, Etsy and Grailed the carrier can vary, so read the service on the label you print.

Read on each marketplace's help center on October 13, 2026. Depop and Vinted don't say which USPS service their labels use, so the table uses the earlier USPS date. None of these marketplaces had published a 2026 holiday shipping notice by then.

Your last safe sale day, worked out
Take the carrier's ship-by date and count back your usual handling time in business days. With a USPS Ground Advantage label, the ship-by date is Thursday, December 17. December 12 and 13 are a weekend, so counting back gives:

This is our arithmetic, not a marketplace promise. USPS counts the date it accepts the package, so a label printed on the 17th and dropped in a collection box after the last pickup misses it. Selling to Alaska, Hawaii or a military address moves everything earlier; see the USPS table above.
Priority Mail buys one more day (Friday, December 18) where you choose the service yourself, as on eBay or Etsy. Poshmark's standard label is Ground Advantage, so the 17th is the date for Poshmark sellers.
What to do after the cutoff
Sales don't stop on December 17, but gift sales do. From the 18th, the buyers left are mostly buying for themselves, and the honest thing is to say when a package will really arrive. A short line at the top of a description ("Ships December 18; won't arrive before Christmas") stops the messages and the cancellations.
- Going away? Turn on each marketplace's vacation mode before you leave, not after the first order lands. Depop's turns itself off after 7 days, so set it again if you're gone longer.
- Poshmark's Vacation Hold sets listings to Not For Sale, but they can still be liked and shared, so you keep the likes for your January offers.
- eBay's Time Away can keep sales open with a longer handling time, or pause them for up to 30 days.
- Mercari's vacation mode hides listings, but any order placed before you switched it on still has to ship within 3 business days.

Holiday costs to plan for: the USPS surcharge and Poshmark's HAZMAT fee
USPS runs temporary peak-season prices from October 4, 2026 to January 17, 2027 on Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, Ground Advantage and Parcel Select. On commercial Ground Advantage and Priority Mail, zones 1 to 4, up to 3 lb, the increase is $0.40 a package (USPS announcement). eBay says eBay Labels won't pass it on for Priority Mail or Ground Advantage up to 20 lb in zones 1 to 8, or for Flat Rate, while some cubic tiers and rural ZIP codes do go up. Mercari changes its label prices for some weights from October 19. The other marketplaces hadn't said either way by October 13. From October 19, 2026, Poshmark sellers pay USPS's $50 HAZMAT fee if USPS flags their package (Poshmark's post). The usual cause is a reused box with an old hazardous-materials marking on it, which matters in December when everyone is reusing boxes. Cover or cut off old labels and markings before you ship.
