Cross-List Between eBay and Depop (Now That eBay Owns Depop)

eBay closed its Depop acquisition on July 30, 2026, but the two apps still do not share listings. How to move items from eBay to Depop and back: photos, titles, item specifics, condition, and pricing when Boost and Promoted Listings enter the math.

Quick Answer

eBay owns Depop as of July 30, 2026, but the apps do not share listings, so you still cross-list yourself or with a tool. eBay to Depop: cut to your best four photos, rewrite the title as a natural first line, add hashtags. Depop to eBay: build a keyword title, fill in item specifics, and add tag and measurement photos.

When eBay announced it was buying Depop in February, a lot of sellers assumed their listings would start showing up on both. That has not happened. eBay completed the acquisition on July 30, 2026 and said Depop keeps its own brand, app and community. The plans it has described are behind the scenes: bringing eBay's Authenticity Guarantee to eligible Depop listings and offering eBay's shipping and financial services to Depop sellers.

So if you want an item on both, you still make two listings. The good news is that eBay and Depop reach very different buyers, which makes this one of the better pairs to cross-list. Here is how to do it well in each direction. If Poshmark is your third marketplace, see Poshmark to eBay and Poshmark to Depop too.

Does eBay Owning Depop Change Anything for Sellers?

Not yet, for listing. You have separate accounts, separate listings, separate fees and separate feedback. Nothing you list on eBay appears on Depop or the other way around. Keep an eye on two things over the next year: Authenticity Guarantee reaching Depop (useful if you sell sneakers, bags or watches there), and any change to Depop's US fees, which are currently lower than eBay's.

How to Cross-List From eBay to Depop

1. Pick four photos out of twenty

eBay listings often carry 12 to 24 photos. Depop gives most sellers four and a video. Lead with a cover that looks good in a feed (modeled, or a clean flat lay on a plain background), then the back, the tag, and the worst flaw. White-background product shots are fine, but a styled cover usually does better on Depop.

2. Rewrite the title as a sentence

An eBay title like "Carhartt WIP Detroit Jacket Mens Large Brown Duck Canvas Blanket Lined Vintage" is built for filters. On Depop, the opening words of your description do the work, and they should read like a person wrote them: "Carhartt WIP Detroit jacket in brown duck canvas, blanket lined. Men's L, fits boxy."

3. Move item specifics into the description

Depop has fields for category, brand, size and condition, but not for things like material, rise or pit-to-pit. Put measurements and material in the description in a short, scannable block. Depop buyers ask about fit constantly, and measurements up front cut down the messages.

4. Add hashtags

eBay has no hashtags. Depop allows five. Use one or two for the item (#carhartt, #workjacket), one or two for the style (#workwear, #vintage), and one broad tag. See our Depop algorithm guide for how they affect discovery.

5. Price it

Without paid visibility, Depop pays noticeably more on the same price. With it, the order flips:

Bar chart of payout on a $50 sale: Depop $47.90, eBay $42.80, Depop with Boost $41.90, eBay with a 5% Promoted Listings rate $40.30
Payout on a $50 item after US fees, September 2026. Boost and Promoted Listings are optional.

Depop buyers tend to expect lower prices than eBay buyers for everyday pieces, and higher ones for trend-right vintage. Check sold items on Depop for the same brand and style before copying your eBay price across. Because Depop keeps so little, you can usually go 5% to 10% under your eBay price and still net more.

How to Cross-List From Depop to eBay

1. Build a keyword title

Take the words a buyer would search and put them in an 80-character title: brand, item type, key style words, size, color. (New to eBay? Our eBay selling guide covers the basics.) Aesthetic words that people actually search on eBay ("Y2K", "90s", "grunge", "vintage") are fine. Drop anything that only makes sense in a Depop feed.

2. Fill in item specifics

eBay's filters run on item specifics. For clothing that usually means brand, size, size type, department, type, style and color are required, with material, fit and pattern suggested. A Depop listing has maybe half of this, so plan to fill in the rest.

3. Grade the condition

eBay splits pre-owned clothing into Excellent, Good and Fair. Depop's used, excellent maps to Pre-owned Excellent; used, good to Pre-owned Good. If the Depop listing said "worn but loved", that is Fair. Grade down if you are unsure, since not-as-described returns on eBay are costly.

4. Add the photos eBay buyers expect

Add the brand and size tags, a measurement photo, the inside, and each flaw up close. You have up to 24 slots.

5. Set shipping and business policies

Weigh the item packed and choose calculated, flat or free shipping. If you use a tool to create eBay listings, set up eBay business policies (shipping, returns, payment) first under Business policies in your eBay account settings. Tools that list on eBay for you need them, and eBay rejects the listing without them.

6. Price from eBay sold listings

Search the item on eBay and filter by Sold items. Price near the middle of recent sales, then decide whether to promote. Since January 13, 2026, eBay no longer charges the Promoted Listings fee on "halo" sales (a buyer clicks your ad, then buys a different item from you), so you pay only on the promoted item itself. More in our Promoted Listings guide.

What Sells on Both

  • Workwear and outdoor brands (Carhartt, Patagonia, The North Face, Arc'teryx).
  • Vintage band and graphic tees, and 90s and Y2K pieces with a searchable name.
  • Branded sneakers, where eBay's Authenticity Guarantee already applies above its price threshold.
  • Designer and contemporary bags, if you can show clear authenticity details.

Items that people search for by exact model or part number (electronics, camera gear, collectibles) belong on eBay. Trend-driven fast fashion under $20 usually does better on Depop alone.

Keep Both Copies in Sync

eBay treats "sold it to someone else" as a transaction defect, and you need to stay at or under 2% of transactions to avoid Below Standard. Put the same SKU in eBay's Custom label field and on the last line of the Depop description, and delete the other copy as soon as one sells. Our guide to selling on multiple platforms without double-selling covers the full routine.

Doing It With a Tool

Full disclosure: FLIPSAIL is our product. With eBay and Depop connected, you select items in your inventory, click Cross-list and pick the other marketplace. eBay copies use your eBay business policies, so set those up first, and it is worth checking the category and item specifics on eBay afterwards. When either copy sells, FLIPSAIL removes the other one from the cloud, with your laptop closed. eBay also notifies FLIPSAIL of sales directly, on top of an hourly check.

Crosslisting is on the $30/month plan for all 8 marketplaces, with a 14-day trial and no card. The free plan keeps sale detection and delisting running between 2 marketplaces, checking every 4 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did eBay buy Depop?

Yes. eBay announced the deal in February 2026 and completed it on July 30, 2026. Depop keeps its own brand and app.

Do Depop listings show up on eBay now?

No. eBay has not announced any listing sync between the two. You need separate listings on each, made by hand or with a crosslisting tool.

Is it cheaper to sell on Depop or eBay?

Depop, for most clothing. It charges US sellers no selling fee, just 3.3% + $0.45 processing, against eBay's 13.6% + $0.40. A Boosted Depop sale adds 12%, which can make it cost more than an unpromoted eBay sale.

How do I move listings from Depop to eBay?

Write an 80-character keyword title, fill in eBay's required item specifics, pick an eBay condition grade, and add tag and measurement photos. A crosslisting tool can copy the basics, but check the item specifics before you rely on it.

Can I sell the same item on eBay and Depop at the same time?

Yes. Both allow it. Remove the other copy as soon as one sells, because eBay counts a cancellation for an item you already sold as a transaction defect.
