Whatnot Cross-Listing 2026: Moving Mercari, Poshmark and eBay Items

Most people think of Whatnot as live auctions. It also has a shop. Buy It Now listings sit on your profile and sell any time, whether or not you are streaming. For a reseller with a closet already on Mercari, Poshmark or eBay, that makes Whatnot another place to put the same inventory in front of a different crowd.

It works a little differently from the others, though. You need approval to sell, shipping is on a tighter clock, and if you do go live, the same item can sell in a show and on Mercari within minutes. Here is how to set it up.

Can You Sell on Whatnot Without Going Live?

Yes. Whatnot calls these Buy It Now or Marketplace listings. You create the product in your Inventory, switch on Buy It Now, and it shows in your Profile Shop and in Whatnot search. There is no listing fee and no expiry date. You pay only when it sells.

The catch is discovery. Whatnot's audience lives in live shows, so shop listings tend to sell best for sellers who also stream, even occasionally. Think of the shop as the place your inventory waits between shows. Our Whatnot live selling guide covers the show side.

Step 0: Get Approved to Sell

Whatnot reviews sellers before they can list. Apply from your profile (Become a Seller) or at whatnot.com/sell. You pick your categories and submit ID. Approval usually takes a few days to two weeks.

This is where your existing shops help. Whatnot looks at selling history, so link your Mercari, Poshmark or eBay profile and show real inventory photos. If you are declined, you can reapply after 30 days.

Whatnot vs Mercari, Poshmark and eBay

On September 21, 2026 Whatnot switched to volume tiers. Your sales over each four-week period set your commission for the next four weeks. Below $15,000 in four weeks, most categories stay at 8%. Above that, rates step down, with fashion bottoming out at 4.5% at $500,000. Processing (2.9% + $0.30) does not change. For most resellers adding Whatnot as a side channel, plan on 8%.

How to Cross-List From Mercari to Whatnot

Mercari and Whatnot are a natural pair. Both are general marketplaces with a lot of collectibles, toys, cards and sneakers, and both pay out more than Poshmark or eBay on the same price. For titles and photos that do well on Whatnot, see our Whatnot listing guide.

1. In Whatnot, go to Inventory and add a product. Pick the closest Whatnot category. It will not match Mercari's tree exactly, and the category decides which buyers see it.
2. Reuse your Mercari title. Mercari allows 80 characters; keep the brand, item and key detail up front.
3. Upload your Mercari photos. Whatnot does not allow stock-only images, so the first photo should show the whole item and its condition. A 30-second video helps a lot for toys and electronics.
4. Set the condition and paste your Mercari description, including flaws.
5. Pick a shipping profile that matches the packed weight. Whatnot shipping is weight-based, and the buyer pays it.
6. Set a price and turn on Buy It Now.

On a $30 item, Mercari pays $27.00 and Whatnot about $26.43 before Whatnot takes processing on the shipping. That is close enough to use the same price on both.

How to Cross-List From Whatnot to Mercari

Going the other way is mostly about adding what Whatnot let you skip. Mercari takes up to 12 photos and a 1,000-character description, and its search leans on the title. Add measurements, model numbers and every flaw. Choose Mercari's prepaid label or ship on your own, and set who pays. Mercari takes a flat 10% with no separate processing fee. Poshmark or eBay to Whatnot

The steps are the same as from Mercari. Two things to watch:

• From Poshmark, your price was padded for offers and a 20% fee. Whatnot's fees come to roughly 11% to 12% of a typical sale against Poshmark's 20%, so you can list lower and still net the same.
• From eBay, you probably have more photos than you need, and your title is written for filters. Keep the most important keywords, since Whatnot search still reads the title.

Whatnot expects you to ship within two business days. If the buyer escalates and there is no proof of shipment, Whatnot can cancel and refund the order. Since March 2, 2026, sellers in the US also pay the refund cost on late shipments without a valid drop-off scan. Late shipments count against your Account Health, which affects Premier Shop and Early Payout.

If you usually batch-ship on Poshmark or Mercari once or twice a week, that rhythm will not work for Whatnot orders. Only cross-list to Whatnot what you can pack and drop off within two days.

Avoid Double-Selling During a Live Show

This is the risk that is specific to Whatnot. In a show, items sell in seconds, often several a minute. If those items are also live on Mercari or eBay, you cannot delist fast enough by hand while you are talking to a camera.

• Before a show, pull the items you plan to run from your other marketplaces, or keep a separate show-only pile.
• After the show, relist what did not sell back to the other apps.
• For Buy It Now items that stay cross-listed, put the same SKU on the last line of every copy so you can search each app and delete the others in seconds.

Tools That Cross-List to Whatnot

Several crosslisters can post to Whatnot, including Crosslist and Vendoo. Check the category and shipping profile on every copy they create, since those two fields decide who sees the listing and what the buyer pays. Our cross-listing tools comparison lists which tools cover which marketplaces.
