Vinted vs Facebook Marketplace: Which Is Better for Sellers?

Vinted takes no fee from sellers and suits clothes you can ship. Facebook Marketplace is free locally and suits bulky items. A comparison for US sellers.

Use Vinted for clothes and small items you can ship, since sellers pay no fee and get a prepaid label. Use Facebook Marketplace for furniture, bulky items and anything you'd rather hand over locally, where the fee is also $0. Shipped Facebook sales cost 10%. Clothes under $20 tend to fit Vinted better, and many sellers use both.

These two look like rivals but mostly do different jobs. Vinted is a shipping marketplace built around clothes, where the buyer pays the fees. Facebook Marketplace started as local classifieds and added shipping later, and it now covers everything from cars to dresses. The fee, the shipping and the people messaging you are all different, so the right answer depends on what you're selling.

Which has lower fees?

Vinted, unless you sell locally on Facebook, in which case they tie at $0. On a $30 shipped item, you keep $30 on Vinted and $27 on Facebook. Vinted's buyer pays $2.20 in fees plus postage, though, so its buyers are comparing that total against other listings. Facebook's 10% shipped fee has an $0.80 minimum, which is steep on a $5 item. Facebook also holds payouts for longer: about 15 days after you mark an order shipped, or 5 days after delivery.

Which sells faster?

We can't say for certain, because we only have numbers for one side. Among FLIPSAIL sellers in the 90 days to October 30, 2026, Vinted sales averaged $13.32 and took a median of 20 days from listing to sale, and sales came to about 20% of active listings. We don't have comparable Facebook sales yet, so we won't guess. Local sales on Facebook can happen the same day for the right item, and they can also mean a week of "is this available" messages.

Scale isn't in doubt on either side. Meta says over 200 million fashion items are listed on Marketplace in the US, its second-largest category after home decor. Vinted has also grown fast in the US, and our Vinted US guide has the current numbers.

What sells best on each

Vinted rewards low-priced clothes. An $8 top that wouldn't be worth a Poshmark fee can make sense there, and bundles help buyers split postage. Designer items can sell too, but its buyers lean toward bargains.

Facebook wins on anything expensive to post: furniture, large decor, baby gear, appliances, tools and sports equipment. Bundles and lots also do well locally, because a buyer can take everything at once and neither of you deals with postage. Fashion is a real category there too, but a dress you have to meet someone to sell is more effort than one you can drop at the post office.

Vinted's system is more contained: the buyer pays in the app and you use its label. The risks there are about your account, since it restricts commercial selling and has been tightening on automation, which our guide to Vinted crosslisters covers.

On Facebook, the risks are about the buyer. Be wary of anyone who offers to overpay, sends you a shipping label of their own, asks you to verify a code, or sends a payment link in chat. Keep shipped sales on Facebook's own checkout. For local sales, meet in a public place, ideally a police station's safe exchange spot, and take cash or confirm a payment in your own app before handing anything over. Be stricter in December, when everyone is in a hurry and a rushed yes is easier to get.

Should you sell on both?

If you have the stock, yes. They reach different buyers, and neither takes a fee on the sales that suit it best. The catch is the extra upkeep: every item listed on both has to come down from the other when it sells, and on Facebook a local buyer can turn up to collect something that sold on Vinted an hour ago. Mark local items as pending as soon as you agree on a meet.

FLIPSAIL, our product, works with both. It lists to Vinted and to Facebook Marketplace, where its listings are local pickup, and it takes an item down from each when it sells somewhere else. Facebook is the newest marketplace on FLIPSAIL, so check your first listings yourself. See crosslisting to Facebook Marketplace for how it compares.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Vinted better than Facebook Marketplace?

For low-priced clothes you can ship, usually yes: no seller fee and a prepaid label. For furniture and bulky items, Facebook Marketplace is better because local sales are free and need no shipping.

Is Facebook Marketplace or Vinted better for selling clothes?

Vinted suits most clothes because buyers come looking for them and shipping is handled for you. Facebook works for clothes in bundles or lots you can hand over locally, or for shipped items if your account has shipping.

Does Vinted charge sellers fees?

Not in the US. The buyer pays 5% + $0.70 plus shipping, and the seller keeps the full item price.

What are the Facebook Marketplace fees?

Local sales carry no Meta fee. Shipped orders cost 10% of the sale price, with an $0.80 minimum.

Can I sell the same item on Vinted and Facebook Marketplace?

Yes, but remove it from one when it sells on the other. Vinted's terms restrict commercial selling and external tools, so go carefully if you sell at volume.

Is Vinted safer than Facebook Marketplace?

For scams, generally yes, since payment and shipping stay inside the app. Facebook sellers should refuse off-app payments, buyer-supplied labels and overpayment offers.
